Dyslexia Quest App Reviews

Not helpful, nice graphics though

My son has dyslexia. This app has wonderful graphics, but unfortunately doesnt have anything in it that actually helps him learn. If anything it was frustrating and he got bored quickly. Its more like a tool to help you see where your child has difficulty in their learning, but if you suspect your child is dyslexic, the better option is to talk to your doctor and get him/her a Psyc Ed assessment by a professional.

Need multiple users

As a tutor I need to be able to use this for more than one student...

Gets too hard too fast

Right away, my son was expected to recognize words like "through" & "remember," complete a five-sequence task, & spell words backwards after hearing them in the yetis accent. The whole reason I purchased this game was because he was struggling with even the basics because of his dyslexia. Hes having a tough time getting words like "dog" & "ran" so this game left him in the dust, discouraged, & feeling "dumb" right off the bat. $10 app that makes my kid feel worse ...

Bad.

It would stop right after I press my age. Everytime and I tried five times. Please fix this.

pkeeling

This app is totally awesome. It is a fun way to work on the various skills students need for reading, listening and sequencing. I see so many benefits to this app in the educational setting but to be honest with you...I so enjoy doing it myself and trying to beat my best times and percentages. The app is nicely made and attractive to the all ages. The phonological awareness is sometimes hard to follow because of Yetis accent. If anything needs improving in this app; that would be it. Still, Im giving it 5 stars and recommend that you try it out too.

Love it!

This is fun and very useful

Mimi

Stops after I put my name in. Wanted this for my son who is struggling in reading. Not good!

Great!

This is an incredible app for my special Ed students. They love to play and dont even realize theyre learning. Could you please update so that more than one child can be monitored at once.

Cool ap

Cool ap that assesses some of the underlying processing skills in dyslexia. However, some of the recommendations are not based on research (e.g. There is NO evidence that visual strategies like colored overlays do ANYTHING).

Good ap

Ive been using this in my school based practice for a couple of weeks now. The kids like it- and it is great being able to track strengths and progress. I do have some recommendations, though. 1st- have it be able to track more than 1 child at a time. Id be willing to pay more for that option alone. 2nd- some children take so long to do this, that they cant complete the game before they have to leave. A partial score would be very helpful. Then, being able to start the assessment/ game where they left off is a wonderful option. 3rd- after a child has established a baseline, it would be more beneficial to simply focus on areas of weakness rather than doing the entire game over. This could be controlled by an administrator or parent code, if necessary, but would help a lot.

Mistakes in the letter sounds!!

I bought this app to help my dyslexic daughter. The game was fun and kept her engaged then I noticed whom ever designed the game made big mistakes in basic letter sounds. They added a short "a" sound after each letter such as "La" for "L" or "Fa" for " F". The letter "M" sounds like "mmmmm" not "Maaaa" otherwise we would all sound like sheep saying Pa, Ca, Fa, La.... ?? These are incorrect and do not enforce correct phonemic awareness in children who already struggle.

Accent option

I think this app is a great way to help your child at home, but on some of the stages the accent makes it hard to follow what the computer is saying. I think it can be especially difficult for a child who already has difficulty with language. I do think that the accent may draw kids not the program, but I think there should be options for other accents hat may be more common.

Good for my OT practice but

This app would be much more useful if it could keep track of more than one student at a time!

Child with dyslexia

My daughter is 7 and has dyslexia. She loves this app and so do I as the parent. I would highly recommend it. Its fun yet educational, reminds me of Kung Fu Panda.

Amazing

This has got to be one of the best apps Ive ever seen for working on various processing areas that affect both reading and writing. Yes, the interface takes a little while to work through and the voice and some of the phonemes (sounds like "mmm" vs. "ma") are a little off. However, in terms of direct practice in processing areas, Im not sure you can beat this. People pay me $150 an hour to teach kids to do what this app does for $2. They pay me $450 an hour to test for the exact same skills the app assesses (I have a Ph.D. in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University and make my living testing kids for dyslexia and dysgraphia). Do the math…

Multiple users

I really like this app and so do the kids, however they are really disappointed when the pictures of their yetis are gone. I wish there was a way to have and track multiple users.

No voice

What happened with the volume? There is no voice...

Great app for 1 student

Really, really wish youd offer an option to track more than one student at a time. I use this app at school all of the tie but Id use it even more often if we could track multiple students! Please?

Amazing!

This app is phenomenal for tackling specific cognitive processes associated with Dyslexia.

Outstanding for dyslexia

My daughter enjoys this app. It is great to see what areas she needs help in. Plus it is very interactive and the yeti voice is too funny. What I was looking for and more.
